Ethereal wedding in Umbria

by Diane Rossi

George and Jessica’s outdoor blessing ceremony was held at the impressive Borgo della Marmotta, an incredibly versatile wedding venue in the area of Spoleto, Umbria.

There are many excellent spaces to hold a ceremony here, such as the nearby olive grove and vast areas of lush greenery surrounding the main buildings but this particular ceremony was held in the majestic courtyard of the Borgo itself.

Jessica was the epitome of a Pre-Raphaelite beauty in a gorgeous ‘Aspen’ creation by Jenny Packham with veil, head band and cuff from Gillian Million. George was groomed to perfection in a blue suit from Reiss.

The ceremony was a reflection of the couple’s love for the whimsical and Children’s literature was the preferred genre for the readings they chose.

Romantically seated on a cosy love seat they listened to excerpts from The Owl and The Pussy Cat by Edward Lear, The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams and my personal favourite, Phillip Pulman’s novel ‘The Amber Spyglass’:

And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me, because we’ll be joined so tight…

There is something ethereal about the images and I was delighted that Jessica and George chose Andrea Cittadini to photograph their entire wedding day. The gallery below shows how perfectly and unobtrusively he captured the emotions, light and spontaneity of this lovely young couple from the UK.
